What is Realtime Captioning?
Realtime captioning is
the means by which the spoken word is translated to
written word and encoded into a television signal or
shown on a screen or monitor at a meeting. Captioners listen to or view your live broadcast via
audio line or satellite reception. They use
stenograph machines to produce shorthand, which a
computer converts to English. The English
translation of the audio is instantly turned into
captions that are encoded in the television signal
and broadcast or are displayed at your event.

Realtime captions help make programming and events accessible to the growing
number of deaf and hard of hearing people. They encourage literacy among
adults and children and help us all to control noise by offering a silent
way of viewing television. Captions are seen in many public venues.
The National Basketball Association trusts LNS to provide arena-viewed
subtitles for NBA All-Star events. Call for
rates and references. Get more information about realtime captioning for any
of the following areas: broadcast,
event, web-based, or
meetings & public
events.
